Hi Everyone,
Like most of my fellow Floridians, I have spent the past couple of days preparing for Hurricane Matthew.
The last time we had a major hurricane, in 2004, we were without phones for three days, and without power for five days. Given that Matthew is currently a category 4 hurricane, I’m assuming that we will again be without power for several days. I’m further assuming that if we don’t have power, I won’t be able to write and post my blog Monday night, so I thought I’d do a quick blog post tonight, as we wait for the storm to hit.
I feel blessed that I’m not one of the 1.5 Million Floridians who have had to be evacuated in advance of the storm. We are about as ready as we can be, with supplies of batteries, flashlights, water, gas, and non-perishable food. Also on my hurricane ‘essentials’ list is a stockpile of Micron pens and Strathmore drawing pads! I may not be able to use electronics for the next few days, but I am hoping to be able to put pen to paper (at least during daylight hours).
The storm will be here soon… we are getting heavy rains from some of the outer bands, and nearby towns have already lost power. Seminole County, where I live, has called a mandatory curfew (meaning don’t leave the house!) from 5:00 a.m. Friday until 7:00 pm on Saturday, so we are hunkering down and praying that the storm will not be as bad as is being predicted. This is my wish for all my fellow Floridians:
I would greatly appreciate your joining me in praying for the safety and well-being of everyone bracing for Hurricane Matthew.
Before closing tonight, I wanted to wish a belated Happy Birthday to Color and Creativity Enthusiast Paul Melnick. Hope you had a glorious birthday!
Stay Zenspired,
Joanne

Good luck. We in north Broward feel very blessed. What a start for the Jewish new year. Our winds and rain still strong but so far my shifters have held. I still have power but I am on same grid as my city govt center.
Stay safe. Happy designing. I was too busy being nervous about 140 mph winds.
I’m praying for you, and everybody in this storm.
Blessings, Joanne!
Dear Joanne,
I am praying for weakening of the storm, no loss of life and minimal property damage for all who have been touched by this storm and anyone who now stands in the pathway of this storm. Stay safe and protect yourselves and your beloved animals. I ask this in the name of Him.
My prayers go out to you,
Jane-Ellen
From the relative safety of Hampshire, England, I am thinking of you.
To my Friend Joanne, and Fellow Winter,
I do have you covered in prayers, and I am keeping the Weather Channel on 24/7 untilmall my friends in Fl, GA, and N-SC, are safe and secure. I went thru many Tyohoons in Manila, and now live in Tornado Alley, so I know what ‘get ready’ really means. I pray specifically for you as a widow, and waiting this out alone. I miss you. And I am so happy to see your greetings here almost everyday! Praise the good Lord for FB! —-and your beautiful art—–
.
Please be safe…
Prayers for safety!
Prayers for you and yours!
Have been praying and will continue to do so. Please be careful and stay safe……Linda E.
Thanks for the update, I was praying that you are OK! God bless you and keep you safe!

Through The Storm He Is Lord! Continuing to pray for all involved.
I was glad to hear you are safe! Tomorrow I’m co-leading a healing service at my synagogue and you and all of FL are included in our prayers.
All over the world, we are keeping everyone affected by hurricane Matthew in our thoughts and prayers – the News media is keeping us up-to-date with what has been happening and it is truly terrible and frightening. All we can do is ask for God’s protection, as mere mortals cannot do anything against the forces of Nature. Keep safe.
