Take Note!

Tuesday, June 30, 2015

Hi Everyone,
Those of you who are regular blog readers may remember my asking for your input on a series of notecards that I was designing a few months ago. Many of you were kind enough to share your thoughts, which helped me finalize the line. I incorporated a lot of your suggestions into the line, and wanted to say THANK YOU again for sharing… I am deeply grateful for this creative and ‘Zenspired’ community. In May, the notecards debuted at the National Stationery Show, and I was excited to see some of the designs on display:

And tonight I’m delighted to let you know that the first five collections of notecards are up on Amazon! Here are visuals so you can see how they turned out. If you’d like to order some, you can click on the blue title above each collection, or you can go to the ‘shop’ button at the top of my website.

DESIGN TUNES:

I created the music collection based on your input– music and Scripture were the two most requested themes. I had trouble deciding whether to do musical instruments or music notes, and in the end just went with variations of the treble clef, as it is the most versatile. Here is a close-up so you can see it better:

Each collection is offered two ways; as thank you notes and blank notes. I hand-lettered ‘Thank You’ to coordinate with the different looks. For example, here’s what I did for the Whimsical Waves:

I really appreciated your input during the design phase, and now that the note cards have been printed, I’d like to get your input again– as an incentive, if you leave a comment answering the four questions below, I’ll enter your name into a drawing– and the prize will be a box of your favorite notecard collection! Since there are many readers with the same first name, please make sure your comment includes YOUR FULL NAME so I can properly identify the winner. Let me know how you like the new line, and please answer these four questions:
1. Which is your favorite collection?
2. Do you prefer thank you notes or blank notes?
3. Would you use these yourself and/or give them as a gift? If not, why not?
4. If the line is successful and we get to do more collections, what other themes would you like me to consider designing?
I look forward to your thoughts…

Before closing tonight, I want to let all the Coloring Enthusiasts know that I’m running a little behind on sending out pages from the next two Zenspirations® Create, Color, Pattern & Play books, but they should be in your in-box by Wednesday night. If you are expecting them and having received anything from me by Thursday, please send me an e-mail ([email protected]) to let me know, and I’ll forward them to you. FYI, I WILL NEED TO HAVE THEM BACK no later than Thursday the 9th, so if you can’t work on them next week, there will be another opportunity to submit inspiration examples in October.

Stay Zenspired,
Joanne

  1. I like the design tunes. I preference blank notecards. I would use myself and possibly give as gifts. In the future I would like to see music and/or scripture cards. Beautiful work as always.

  2. I keep beautiful blank notes and send them (when i remember) for birthdays, anniversaries, with gifts, etc. i also keep a box of Thank You notes on hand. Good to know i can order them on line when i run out.
    Thanks for your beautiful work!

  3. I like them all, but think that whimsical waves are my favorite. I would use the cards myself and would give them as gifts.
The blank note cards are more versatile and I like writing personal notes. I think more designs similar to the whimsical waves or abstract art that are colorful and fun would be a big hit.

  4. Beautiful! It's really tough to decide which are my favourite. I'll choose Design Tunes.
    I prefer blank cards.
    I would use them myself.
I would be very interested in cards based on your dangle designs.
Thanks so much for your inspiration!

  5. These are all beautiful, Joanne – Congratulations!

    1. Love the colorful Whimsical Waves, but I think Love Lines is my favorite today.
    2. I prefer blank cards.
    3. I would use these myself – and also love to gift them.
    4. Scriptures and I love your dangles.

  6. OH MY GOODNESS! They are all so beautiful! LOVE all the color combinations!

    1. Since I have to choose just one, then it would be the "Design Tunes" because I am a musician as well as an artist.
PS… I like the musical notes instead of instruments.
    2. Blank notes because it has more flexibility. I can write in the words Thank You if needed.
    3. I would do both. For myself AND especially as gifts. I would want to share your artistry with everyone!!
    4. Anything flower related and lighthouses, which can be used with scriptures or sayings like "You light up my life", etc

Always look forward to Tues mornings to see what you have created or working on.
You keep me Zenspired along with so many other people out there.

  7. 1. Love the colorful Whimsical Waves, but I think Love Lines is my favorite today. How to choose just 1…the Stacked Words are also good, but depending on the circumstances may not always 'fit'.
    2. I also prefer blank cards – i try to write my own messages even on preprinted cards.
    3. Gifts – definitely as well as use them myself.
    4. future designs – sea life

  10. 1. Love Lines–for their beauty, simplicity, style and loveliness!
    2. Blank
    3. Use them myself (not to be too selfish). Might give them as a gift to a friend who I know writes letters and notes, if I know what style she would prefer.
    4. I love nature, so anything with flowers, trees, leaves, etc would bless my little heart.

    xoxox, Sandy Placek 🙂

  11. I like the Word Stack cards as blank cards so I can use them as any type of cards. I would use them myself, but they would make a cute part of a gift too.

Other lines, besides these, I could see you designing would be seashells, fish and quail…I've been watching a family grow in my desert yard for the spring and it would be fun to see a family on the front of a card.

Thanks so much for all your designs! Melinda

  12. Joanne,

  18. My favorite are the Design Tunes. I prefer blank ones that I can personalize as needed. I would definitely use them myself, but a gift would be a wonderful idea. 19. I have to go with Whimsical Wave as my favorite with the Written in Stone as a close second. They are all lovely and it is a tough decision. Maybe an assortment of 2 each would be nice…

  28. What a beautiful collection you have created! I am kind of a "notecard hoarder" so I love them ALL! I especially like the "written in stone" cards, as they have a unique style and can be used for various occasions. My second favorite are the Love Lines, but they are a bit less versatile (I am being very picky here!) I would be happy to give or receive any of your creations!
I prefer blank cards, and would definitely use them both for myself and as gifts.
I love natural beauty– trees, flowers, birds, mountains, ocean, sunrise/sunset, but would also enjoy using cards featuring a "congratulations" theme, that I could use for anniversaries, graduations, acheivements etc. It would also be nice to have a more subdued set more suitable for men–I have a bunch of young adult nephews and have a hard time finding birthday cards for them. How's that for some "food for thought??" Thanks for all that you do and for connecting with your followers!

  29. Hello Joanne,

I love all the designs, but if I had to pick one, It would be the written in stone.

    I would prefer blank cards.

I would use them for myself and also as a gift.

I would like to see cards that had a design you were working on, I don't know if you picked a name for the design yet, some of the names were Rooted in Love, or Wordspirations.

    Thank you!!

  30. Love Lines
    Blank Notes
    Myself and for gifting
    Hearts and Scripture

    I really like them all

  31. They have come up absolutely beautiful. The bright colours are such a pick me up!

I love the 'love lines' the best. Such a simple word can hold so much power.
I would prefer my notes to be blank, I do tend to write a lot!
I would definately use them myself, as well as give as a gift.
Further themes? I would love to see some inspirational quotes.

Thank you once again for sharing and inspiring , you are so beautiful. Xx

  33. 1) my favorite would be a tie between Written in Stone and Love Notes
    2) I would prefer them blank, as others said also, to write my own notes in
    3) I would use them myself – I can see myself both writing notes to friends and using them for craft projects.
    4) I'd love a collection of friendship, birthday, anniversary, sympathy, get well…you get the idea.
I love your work and your kindness in sharing it with us.

  34. These are all so wonderful in their own special way. But since I have to choose I will have to pick the love lines, no wait the Written in stone. I would prefer the blank inside. I think each one I use would be a gift to the recipient, but I would also purchase a whole box as a gift. Your are so creative that you could do wonders with butterflies, lady bugs, birds, and/or dragonflies. Thank you for all you do and I know these will be a huge success.

  35. 1. Which is your favorite collection?
Love Lines…one word is simple and powerful.
    2. Do you prefer thank you notes or blank notes?
Blank…I enjoy composing an appropriate note.
    3. Would you use these yourself and/or give them as a gift? If not, why not?
For myself and for a gift. I think the Design Tunes will make a great gift.
    4. If the line is successful and we get to do more collections, what other themes would you like me to consider designing?
Inspirational Scriptures and/or Holiday Cards. Continue in your strengths: color blending, lettering that is flowing, dangles, and a bit of whimsy. I agree that sometimes it is difficult to find cards that are more masculine, and not overly-frilly, so maybe subjects like a pocket watch, a sailboat, a zany automobile, etc. (Not anything obvious and overused such as a necktie.) Maybe themed on the 4 seasons would be nice… perhaps a collection of flowery ones for the women and a collection of nature-inspired ones for the men. Just some ideas to ponder.
Congratulations on the wonderful collections you have now! They are all nice.

  36. I'm so excited for your grand adventures!! You are always so sweet to share them!!

    1. Which is your favorite collection? I love the LOVE LINES most – today. That may be different on a different day, but today I like the color combos, the word designs and how it all flows together.
    2. Do you prefer thank you notes or blank notes? I like the blank cards so that I can use as desired.
    3. Would you use these yourself and/or give them as a gift? If not, why not? I would use them myself and give them away. Since I am known for creating my own cards, most people expect a personally created hand crafted card….
    4. If the line is successful and we get to do more collections, what other themes would you like me to consider designing? Birds and trees are always my favorites!!

Thank you for all your creative inspiration!

  37. 1. Love lines is my favorite.
    2. Prefer blank.
    3. Would use myself and as gifts.
    4. I'm partial to lettering, so inspirational quotes for future cards. Also, dragonflies!

  38. I think my first response for lost in space. These are amazing!!!! Wow!
    Love lines
    Stacked words and
    Written in stone
    are my favorite.
I would purchase them with or without greetings.
I would definitely give these as a gift and keep them for myself.

I would like to see whimsical cats and peacocks and dandelion fluff.

Can't wait for your book, I have many to give it to. You grow more beautiful with every photo too!

  42. 1. Word Stack…or maybe Written in Stone…Written in Stone, I think!
    2. Blank
    3. Give as gifts (I make my own greeting cards); I'd frame yours to hang on my walls!
    4. Dangle designs, Scriptures, your drawings (trees, flowers, etc).
    Love, love, LOVE your work!!!

    Thanks Joanne!
