Hi Everyone,
Thank you so much to everyone who tuned in– or tried to tune in– to my first Facebook Live. I spent two days learning new software so I could use multiple cameras to show what I was working on, and was REALLY disappointed that it didn’t go as planned. I know that some of you waited patiently and eagerly for me to figure out the logistics of going live, and I am truly sorry for the delay and the poor quality of the reception once I started. I’m trying to figure out why the picture got so pixelated so I can come up with a work-around before trying to do my next Facebook Live. I’d be very grateful to hear from anyone who may know why we couldn’t get good image quality, and what I can do to make sure that doesn’t happen next time. (Here’s a link to the video to share with any tech savvy people who may be willing to give advice). I plan to try again once I figure out how to make sure we get better image quality.
Your kind comments and all the ‘likes’ and ‘loves’ made my day– and I really enjoyed the way people greeted friends who had also tuned in. Since the Facebook Live was to celebrate the third Anniversary of the Zenspirations Create, Color, Pattern, Play Facebook Group, I prepared three special prizes for those who were able to attend. Since we weren’t able to do a live ‘on-air’ drawing, my friend Dawn Winburn, who made the beautiful Celebrate Box that was prize #1, was kind enough to come over and put everyone’s name into a bag so I could pick the lucky winners.
Congratulations to Linda McGonigle, who won Dawn’s beautiful box:
Claire McFeely, who won her name in Dangle Monogram Letters:
and Lynne Brace Lapp, who won a private lesson with me. Ladies, please e-mail me at [email protected] to let me know how to get you your prizes.
Good news for those who’s names weren’t drawn– there are LOTS more chances to win! Here’s a sneak peek at what’s included in our 3rd Anniversary Give Away:
3 cool stationery products that I designed for Wellspring Gifts. A Flip note, a Magnet and a List Pad/Magnet gift set:
3 Cool Crafty items: An Inspired Journaling Stencil that I designed for TWC, one of my Spellbinders Rubber Stamp Sets, and Sakura’s brand new Koi® Water Color CAC (Creative Art Colors) with Metallic and Neon paints:
3 Zenspirations 8 x 10 framable prints (available in the webstore!):
3 Coloring Products from the line I designed for Michaels last year: A photo mat, a spiral notebook and a set of note cards:
3 Signed books: Zenspirations Dangle Designs, My Prayer Journal and With God All Things Are Possible:
Here’s a photo of all the items in the 3rd Anniversary Grand Prize:
I’ll also be giving away another private lesson, another Dangle Monogram name and samples made with some of my new dies and stamps.
Prizes will be awarded by random selection to people who submit designs for our collaborative Holiday Care-Moji collection.
Regular blog readers know that I like people to use my work as a springboard for their own creative efforts. If you like to draw, I would love for you to create your own icons. But if you would rather color and add patterns and embellishments to one of my drawings, you can find free downloads in the July 10th blog and the July 17th blog.
We’ve already had some wonderful submissions– hope you’ll check them out and leave a nice comment for the artists who have shared their creative talents!
Stay Zenspired,
Joanne

Oh my, how shocked I was to see, just moments ago, that I won the beautifully crafted box by Dawn Windburn. I am truly grateful! Thank you, Joanne, for all your efforts to produce your FB live. I’m sure you’ll be producing a top notch program soon! We are all behind you and we realize that this is not as easy as it looks. I’m sure we’ve all had our “techie” moments.
Thank you again. You and Dawn are inspiring! Blessings on all your endeavors – Linda McGonigle
Joanne, I am so impressed with your courage!!! How awesome you tried and it wasn’t what you wanted. How cool you are going to try again!!! Keep up the good work. I’m not a Facebook person but you have my full support!!!!! Love to you!!
Joanne –
It’s my take that the pixilated images were the result of insufficient bandwidth – likely on your LAN or wireless. Perhaps you had too many devices active at the same time, even some in the background. For example, if you have applications with automatic updates, they will consume bandwidth (sometimes alot of it) if they are set to make updates or backups at the same time you wish to run your live event. If I knew exactly what was consuming your bandwidth, I could give more specific advice to make an adjustment. Steaming video apps (online gaming, content downloads) are where I would start because they are easy to stop when you want to run a live event.
Linda
Thank you SO much, Linda, for your advice. I will shut down everything I can on all devices and try again. I REALLY appreciate your thoughts. 🙂
What generosity you show to this group!. I was not able to tune in for much on Saturday because we had company coming for dinner so I was glad Jonathan reposted it later. I did a couple of attempts at hand drawing care mojis that reinforced my appreciation for graphic design (lol) but at least if I post them it is another chance to win! Thanks so much for all you do.
